Lately, Still in Black and White

Change is inevitable, as they say.

Yes, I do agree to it and we can always succumb to what ever changes our lives has to offer.  However, fashion-wise, my love for the black and white color combination remains steadfast and impregnable.  Hence, where ever I may be in our planet we call Earth, you certainly can snap a candid photograph of me with my shades on and in that shrewd, rather artsy, black and white ensemble.

What I Wore:

black sleeveless long top with goose appliqué - Moschino Cheap and Chic
cropped wide-leg stripe b/w pants - unbranded

Do keep coming back for my black and white personal style stories.

Why I Did It, How I Did It

I read a quote from the world wide web that I got interested in:

" At first they will ask why you're doing it, later they'll ask how you did it."

The quote best fits my fetish for clothing and avocation in fashion styling, be it personal or styling for other individuals.

WHY Questions they Asked:
1. Why buy clothes and shoes unceasingly when you already have a number of those?
2. Why dress-up atypically and unconventionally than the rest of the other ladies?
3. Why you do fashion styling for free?

So many questions, which I have the prerogative to answer them with only a smile.

And then when they realized I was consistent and upbeat with my preferences and fashion appetite, so they begin asking  HOW questions:

1. How you look nonchalant and pleasing despite donning motley of wearable apparel and adornments?
2. How do you manage to look effortless despite obviously taking effort in dressing-up?
3. How do you maintain the spirit of volunteerism in fashion styling for other individuals?

Those were just a few of the questions thrown to me which I still  answer them with my widest sincere beam, leaving them freedom for free interpretation.

Black and White Euphoria

The color black and white is not a linear expression of bliss and all things synonymous to happy.  Black solidly connotes darkness and white may symbolize somehow for emptiness.

Big question is, does my fondness for this dual contrasting hue partnership clamor the status quo of my level of happiness?

Happiness for me is not solely manifested in the choice of colors we wear on a day to day basis.  Happiness should not be isolated to the "jovial" hues of yellow and everything else seen  from the spectrum of the rainbow.  Because even though wearing black or white or black-and-white seems dull and melancholic, but, being on the color combination proffers an immeasurable sense of euphoria.

Black and White color combination ensures myself a sense of balance between calm and chaos, high and low, strong and weak and all those sorts of contrasts.  And would you agree and believe that when there is balance in life, happiness apparently follows.

Double Take

Be bold, be experimental, be dashing to embrace complexities.

In fashion, I am always drawn to the more complex, more ornamental / exaggerated and inconvenient side of it.  And my personal style is somewhat defined to the mentioned descriptions.

If you find my outfit a bit daring, in the sense that not everyone can wear this kind of two dimensional top, my personality is the exact opposite of my fashion preferences.  I am a reserved type of person, you can call me introvert but my personal fashion style can loudly speak on my behalf.  See below a quote from stylist, Rachel Zoe, she is indeed right.  My style is basically a description of my creative self.

I love dressing-up in uncommon ways but I seldom do go out to socialize and interact with the other congenial human beings, as I prefer being in my room and indulge in my creative outlets and then go to sleep.

The dress has a Double Take impact.  Do you agree? Upon a look at my top, a double take reaction (a delayed reaction to something unexpected, immediately after one's first reaction) is made by my "audience".

Sigh's Fashion Advice:
Wear what you like and like what you wear.
Try to explore the spunky side of yourself, you'll never know, you'll be surprised.
Inject confidence, boost your self-esteem and just be your true self.  Everything else will follow.

Sunday Style: Black and White Kind of Day

Black and White is a forever color palette that I am so in love.

And when going to church to hear mass on Sundays or other days of the week, it is most appropriate to wear your best Sunday dress in a modest length and style, plus the color combination of black and white does not create optical distraction and imparts a classic, refined style.

I can always, and if everyday permits, wear black and white (head-to-toe) and which definitely will go on forever.

The appliques of the dress and the unique collar and that ribbon on the center attracted me to purchase the dress without hesitation.  Aside from having sewn in my favorite color, there is an intertwining of beauty and art in this lovely fashion piece.  I love embellishments and eccentricities in my clothes and I am certain that this dress can withstand years and years of fashion evolution.

What I Wore:
black and white dress with white butterfly appliques - Le Pucci
black sheer blouse underneath the dress - my closet
white pumps - Payless Shoes
sunglasses - G. Fiesta Mall Department Store
black straw hat - Cyecle

1 Heart Dress, 2 Ways

My love for black and white is a public knowledge, as I have the propensity to almost always put on this color combination.  Upon having a sight of a heart print dress with the heart colored in white and laid out in a black contrast, I was certainly sure it will come home with me, and it did.  The immediate photo below that I grabbed from the internet is similar to my choice as to the print but differs on the hemline.

Whenever I purchase an apparel, I always ensure to maximize its intended function.  With my love for clothing and styling, I have fabricated a vault of fashionable imaginations on how to dress-up a dress, as in this new addition to my wardrobe.  See below as to how I styled my black and white heart dress.

Well you may have noticed that I have never posted a photo wearing no-sleeves outfit, simply because it is not my preference.  So when I purchased this dress, I disregarded the fact that it is a sleeveless dress, there a many ways how to address that concern.  I am also giving ideas on how to amplify the value of sleeveless dress, aside from wearing it as it is.

SIGH STYLE TIPS:
How To Dress-up with a B/W Heart Dress
How to Maximize a Sleeveless Dress

Styling No. 1
I wore the dress a it is, but covered it up with a black sheer kimono-style bolero and cinched it with a belt.  Matched the color combination of the dress with a black and white flats.

Styling No. 2
The other option of wearing the heart dress and not worrying that it is a sleeveless dress, is to wear a sleeve top underneath of the dress, and instantly you have a jumper dress!

Hope to have shared practical fashion ideas to maximize the use of a sleeveless dress.

What I Wore:
heart dress - G. Fiesta Mall / white top with heart appliques on the sleeves - Palacio de Fashion / white stretch belt - Landmark in Makati / wedge - Chinese Laundry / sunglasses - G. Fiesta Mall

How to Wear Black and White

Yesterday, I attended a whole day seminar relative to my profession.  Since I know this is one of those events that requires more dormancy than action i.e, sitting the entire time is expected.  So I decide to wear something comfortable without sacrificing my personal style.

I am most attached to black and white, my closet is filled with apparels of the color combo. What I wore yesterday is a demonstration of how to wear black and white effortlessly yet chic.

In events like this, I tend to wear my not-so-usual type of footwear.  I go for heels, kitten heels in exact.

I have always been opened to how much I am in awe with the black and white color palette, as seen HERE.

To break the monochromatic appeal of the black and white color concotion, I opted for a brown bag, another neutral color to match my classic ensemble.

Gold accessories added sophistication to my outfit.

What I Wore:

Top - Cyecle
Cropped pants - G. Fiesta Mall
T-strap B/W mary janes - Cardam's Shoes
Bag - Nine West
Accessories - Pop Art at ATC
Sunglasses - SM Kids

Are you in to the black and white color combo?

New Year, New Realizations, New Plans

The new year is here, time for building new plans and realizing the long list of to-do's.
Last month of December, I admit I did something great.  I never thought I could achieve such.  It took me decades, literally, to accomplish it.  And I am more grateful to the Almighty God for helping me out so much.  And such accomplishment lead my 2014 to the most upright path.
I have several realizations when I welcomed the new year.
I realize, I should continue doing what I love.  Apart from my day job, I have other interests which fulfills my hunger for the arts and of course, fashion.
Looking back 2013, reminiscing the forecasts of Feng Shui masters, last year was not my year. and even this year, some of them say it's not good others say it'll be okay.  And I realize that I should not allow myself to be drawn into such conclusions.  May it be true or not,  I should go on with what I believe what I ought to do.
I am the type person who lives life day-to-day.  I do look forward for the future but I am more committed to what is in today, checking from time to time if I have been doing things according to what my heart yearns and of course with God's will.
For 2014, I bravely plan to pursue my yesterday's dream, especially my other interests...fashion styling, photography, fashion merchandising, charity works, and all those activities that I have been itching to be into action.

My day job would still be there and my efforts for it would still exceed what is expected from me.
I am ecstatic to act on all my plans for this year.  I have started some, not one buy one, but simultaneous as possible as I can.  I sincerely pray for God's guidance.  And I hope that this enthusiasm should remain as warm from the beginning as it should be in the end of the year.  I envisioned the prosperous fulfillment of the desires of my heart this 2014.
